How to stay fit and healthy during the Christmas ‘pig out’ season

So you’ve been working hard all year on specific health and fitness goals – you may even have challenged yourself and entered a long distance event, Triathlon or a friend may have encouraged you to take part in a gym competition like Hyrox!

All your hard work has been gruelling, sacrificial and focused; you’ve changed your diet, exercised daily and taken yourself out of your comfort zone, maybe facing challenges you thought not possible. NOW for Christmas!

It’s around the corner. The Baileys is rearing its tasty head, the wine is on tap and the sofa is the only thing you’ll be squatting to! How do you keep on track?

Do you let yourself go, or do you maintain your focus, not wanting to ruin all your hard work?

Personally, I love to maintain. Luckily my body shape hasn’t changed much for 25 years/ Is that due to my mindset or just luck?

What I will say is that Christmas Day I always go out for a run. This year will be with my four-legged friends, so fun and at a slower pace.

I will also be taking the 16:8 intermittent fasting approach on both days. BUT… my other half says…

“Find acceptance in this time. Enjoy and allow yourself to let go”.

Eat and enjoy! Just have fun, nothing will change, just make sure this week is a one off, and then health & fitness kicks back in soon.

Take a look at this mind map. I hope it may help you survive the festive season.
